EasyAn Origami Tutor design2 steps18 × 18 in · One square

The candle napkin fold for a holiday table: a square napkin folded to a triangle and rolled up from one corner into a tall candle whose top ends in a flame-like point.

You need
One square cloth or paper napkin and a glass to stand it in. An iron helps with cloth napkins.
Start
Use a square cloth or paper napkin, about 45 cm across, ironed or pressed flat; red or white suits Christmas. Lay it wrong side up with one corner pointing up. The drawings show the wrong side in white so the layers are easy to tell apart.
Tips
  • Roll evenly and tightly so the sides stay straight.
  • A starched napkin holds the roll; a thin one needs the glass.

  1. 1

    Fold in half

Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner. The napkin is now a triangle with its long, folded edge at the bottom and its point at the top.

  2. 2

    Roll up the candle

Start at the left corner and roll the triangle up tightly toward the right corner, keeping the long edge level at the bottom. The top edge climbs to the point and falls away, so the finished candle ends in a flame-shaped peak.
