Before you start

Use thin card

Card of 160–200 g/m² folds crisply and holds a pop-up upright. Printer paper works for practice but sags.

Cut through both layers

Keep the card folded while you cut each slit from the spine, so both halves match exactly.

Crease before you push

Fold each strip forward and back along its crease first. Then it pushes inside cleanly and stands up square.
