Most of the designs below fold from one sheet of printer paper with no cutting or glue. The jet, the canard and the paper helicopter also need scissors, and the hoop glider needs scissors and a little glue or tape. Open a lesson to watch every step, then pick the one that matches what you want it to do.
What do you want your plane to do?
Choose a starting point, then adjust the wings and launch. A long flight, a fast flight and a long glide are different goals.
Easiest
Start with the easy paper airplane: two corners, a fold in half and two wings. Match each fold on both sides.
Flight goalFlies farthest
Try the long-distance plane, with its nose locked shut by a folded-down point. Compare several straight launches from one line.
Flight goalGlides longest
Broad wings are a useful starting point. Try the glider or the square-nose plane and launch gently.
Flight goalFastest
Try the narrow-winged dart or the delta wing. Use the same short course for every timed flight.
Fold it, fly it, try again
Choose your paper, print a fold-line guide or turn your next flight into a classroom experiment.
