Draw five round petals around a small pentagon, cut the flower out in one piece, then cup the petals up and roll their ends back.
- You need
- Light card or thick paper, a pencil, scissors and a round pencil for curling.
- Start
- Begin with a 15 × 15 cm square of light card or thick paper, colored on both sides.
Your model is ready
Stand the flower on its pentagon and ease each petal so the five ends curve back evenly. Look into the open flower from above, then turn it to see the petals cupped up and rolled back.
Step-by-step diagrams
- 1
Cut out the flower
Draw a small pentagon in the middle of the square and a round petal on each of its five sides. Cut in from the top edge to the tip of the top petal, then all the way round the outline. Cut right into each corner where two petals meet, but never past it into the pentagon.
- 2
Cup the petals
Hold the pentagon still. Lift each petal at its base so all five rise together into a shallow cup. Bend at the base only and keep each petal flat.
- 3
Roll the petal ends back
Lay a round pencil across the outer half of one petal and roll the paper back over it, away from the middle. Do the same on every petal so their round ends curve out and down.

Finish
Stand the flower on its pentagon and ease each petal so the five ends curve back evenly. Look into the open flower from above, then turn it to see the petals cupped up and rolled back.
