Step-by-step diagrams

  1. 1

    Cut out the sunflower

Draw a wide twenty-sided disc in the middle of the square and a short pointed petal on each of its sides. Cut in from the top edge to the tip of the top petal, then all the way round the outline. Cut right down to the disc between the petals, but never into it.

  2. 2

    Lift and arch the petals

Hold the disc still. Lift every petal a little at its base. Then draw each petal over a round pencil from its middle to its point, so it arches back more and more toward the tip.

  3. 3

    Add the brown seed head

Centre the 38 mm brown circle on the flat yellow disc. Its edge should leave a slim yellow border inside the petals.

  4. 4

    Glue the seed head

Spread a little glue under the brown circle and press it onto the yellow disc.
