- You need
- Light card or thick paper, a pencil, scissors, a round pencil and a little paper glue.
- Start
- Begin with a 15 × 15 cm square of light card or thick paper, colored on both sides.
Your model is ready
Stand the tulip up by its stem and ease the petals so they close evenly around the middle. Turn the tulip on its stem to see the six petals cupped around the middle and their tips turned out.
Step-by-step diagrams
- 1
Cut out the tulip
Draw the small twelve-sided base, a pointed petal on each of its six long sides and a narrow stem running down from the short side at the bottom. Cut in from the top edge to the tip of the top petal, then all the way round the outline. Cut right down to the base between the petals, and keep the stem joined to the base.
- 2
Cup the petals into a tulip
Hold the base still. Lift all six petals steeply at their bases. Curve each petal in towards the middle along its length, then roll just its point back over a pencil.
- 3
Fold the stem under the flower
Fold the stem flat under the base along the base's short side, so the stem runs back under the middle. Then bend it straight down where it reaches the middle.
- 4
Glue the stem to the base
Put a little glue on the part of the stem that lies under the base and press it flat against the base. Hold it until it stays.

Finish
Stand the tulip up by its stem and ease the petals so they close evenly around the middle. Turn the tulip on its stem to see the six petals cupped around the middle and their tips turned out.
