Pleat six tissue sheets, tie the center and lift the layers into a soft bloom.
- You need
- Six tissue-paper rectangles, thread and scissors.
- Start
- Align six 10 × 15 cm rectangles of tissue paper in one stack. Have a short length of thread ready.
- Tips
- Tissue tears easily. Hold each layer near the tie as you lift it.
- Keep the pleats about 1 cm wide so the folded stack is easy to hold.
Your flower is ready
Separate any petals stuck together and fluff the bloom. Leave the thread ends if you want to tie it onto a gift.
Step-by-step diagrams
- 1
Make accordion pleats
Fold a 1 cm band across the 10 cm edge, turn the stack over and fold again. Continue along its 15 cm length.
- 2
Tie the center
Tie the middle of the folded stack with thread. Make the knot snug without crushing or tearing the tissue.
- 3
Round both ends
Trim both short ends of the folded stack into rounded arcs. Cut through all the layers together.
- 4
Open two fans
Gently spread the pleats on each side of the tie into two fans. Keep the tie at the center.
- 5
Lift the layers
Lift the top sheet toward the center on one half, then the other. Continue one sheet at a time through all six layers.
- ✓
Finish
Separate any petals stuck together and fluff the bloom. Leave the thread ends if you want to tie it onto a gift.
