EasyAn Origami Tutor design3 steps20 cm across · One hexagon

A three-blade boomerang cut from one hexagon of card. Three curved cuts leave three blades, each with a rounded leading edge, joined at a small hub.

You need
One hexagon of thin card, scissors and a pencil.
Start
Use a hexagon of thin card about 20 cm across. Mark a point 4 cm from each of three alternate corners along both sides; the blades will grow from these corners.
Tips
  • Cut the three notches the same, so the blades match.
  • Thin card flies best; cereal-box card is about right.

Start on the side next to the top corner, 2 cm from it. Cut in a curve toward the middle, round the small notch, and back out to the side next to the lower right corner. The curve leans the same way both sides of the notch. Keep the piece with the middle.

    Cut the second notch

Turn the card a third of a circle and cut the same notch beside the next corner. Keep the piece with the middle.
