An Origami Tutor Christmas stocking: a red stocking with a white cuff, a sloping heel and a round toe, folded flat from one square. Hang it on the tree or slip a gift tag inside.
- You need
- One square of red origami paper, white on the back. Ribbon and tape to hang it. No scissors.
- Start
- Use red paper that is white on the back. Start red side up with an edge at the top.
- Tips
- Line up the edges exactly in each half fold so the leg stays straight.
- Crease the foot firmly; four layers make it thick.
Your model is ready
Press the stocking flat. Tape a loop of ribbon behind the cuff to hang it, or slip a small gift tag into the top. The finished stocking, hanging by its white cuff with the toe pointing out.
Step-by-step diagrams
- 1
Fold the cuff down
Fold the top edge down about a sixth of the way. The white band is the stocking's cuff.
- 2
Fold in half behind
Fold the left half behind the right half, edge to edge.
- 3
Fold in half behind again
Fold the left half of the strip behind once more. The red strip has its white cuff at the top.
- 4
Turn the foot out
Fold the lower end of the strip up and out to the right, along a slanting line from the left edge a little below the middle down to the right edge. The bottom edge now points right as the toe, and the slanting fold is the heel.
- 5
Round the top of the toe
Fold the top corner of the toe behind a little.
- 6
Round the bottom of the toe
Fold the bottom corner of the toe behind to match.

Finish
Press the stocking flat. Tape a loop of ribbon behind the cuff to hang it, or slip a small gift tag into the top. The finished stocking, hanging by its white cuff with the toe pointing out.
