- You need
- Thin paper, a pencil, a ruler and scissors.
- Start
- Begin with a 12 cm square of red, orange or yellow paper, colored side up. Keep an edge at the top.
Your model is ready

Step-by-step diagrams
- 1
Fold the square in half
Bring the left edge to the right edge. Match the corners and press the vertical fold. Keep the folded edge on the left.
- 2
Cut the leaf outline
Begin on the folded edge at the tip of the leaf. Cut down the middle lobe's teeth and in to the first notch, out round the big side lobe, in to the second notch and round the small lower lobe. Then cut in toward the fold, down one side of the stem, and across its end to the fold. Keep the leaf beside the fold.
- 3
Open the leaf
Open the centre fold carefully. The crease runs down the middle of the leaf like its vein.
