How to make an eagle papercraft cutout
Eagle Papercraft (Cutout): try all 3 steps in the 3D player. Turn and replay every move. Print the complete diagram sheet or save it as PDF.
Fold a square in half, cut one joined outline through both layers, then open a symmetric soaring eagle with spread wings, finger feathers and a fanned tail.
- You need
- Thin paper, a pencil, a ruler and scissors.
- Start
- Begin with a 20 cm square of dark brown paper, colored side up. Keep an edge at the top. Thin paper is easier to cut between the finger feathers.
Your model is ready
Smooth the centre crease. Draw a small eye on each side of the head with a dark pencil. Hang the flat eagle from a thread with its wings spread, or glue it to a card. The finished paper eagle, with its head at the top, its wings spread wide and its tail fanned below.
Step-by-step diagrams
- 1
Fold the square in half
Bring the left edge to the right edge. Match the corners and press the vertical fold. Keep the folded edge on the left.
- 2
Cut the eagle outline
Start on the folded edge at the top of the head, at the hooked beak. Cut round the head and out along the front edge of one wing to its tip. Cut the five finger feathers one after another back along the end of the wing, then in to the body. Cut down beside the body to the tail, out along the tail feathers and back to the folded edge at the bottom of the tail. Keep the half eagle beside the fold and remove the surrounding paper.
- 3
Open the eagle
Open the centre fold gently. The head, both wings and the tail stay joined in one sheet.
- ✓
Finish
Smooth the centre crease. Draw a small eye on each side of the head with a dark pencil. Hang the flat eagle from a thread with its wings spread, or glue it to a card. The finished paper eagle, with its head at the top, its wings spread wide and its tail fanned below.
