How to make a paper crown

The traditional four-point paper crown, with a square band.
- You need
- One square of paper. No glue or scissors.
- Start
- Start white side up, with one corner pointing up. A large square makes a crown to wear.
- Tips
- Line each corner up with the center before pressing the blintz folds.
- Open the pocket gently along its existing creases.
Your model is ready
Turn the crown so its four points face up and wear it, or use it as a lid.

Steps 1–7

Crease across the middle
Fold the top corner down to the bottom corner, press, and open.

Crease the other way
Fold the left corner to the right corner, press, and open.

Fold the top corner in
Bring the top corner to the center.

Fold the right corner in
Bring the right corner to the center.

Fold the bottom corner in
Bring the bottom corner to the center.

Bring the left corner to the center.

Turn over
Turn the small square over.
Steps 8–14

Crease the left wall
Fold the left edge to the middle, press the rim crease, and open it again.

Crease the right wall
Fold the right edge to the middle, press the matching rim crease, and open it again.

Open the tucked top corner
Unfold the tucked top corner outward along its old crease.

Fold the top band in
Fold the band inward along the line, carrying the open point with it.

Return the top point
Fold the triangle back toward the top, along its old corner crease. Leave the band folded.

Open the tucked bottom corner
Unfold the tucked bottom corner outward along its old crease.

Fold the bottom band in
Fold the band inward along the line, carrying the open point with it.
Steps 15–21

Return the bottom point
Fold the triangle back toward the bottom, along its old corner crease. Leave the band folded.

Lift the bottom triangle
Fold only the bottom triangle up over the top triangle.

Fold the lower left corner
Fold the lower left corner of the band up to its middle edge.

Fold the lower right corner
Fold the lower right corner up the same way.

Lower the triangle
Unfold the large triangle back down along its middle hinge.

Lower the top triangle
Fold only the top triangle down over the bottom triangle.

Fold the upper left corner
Fold the upper left corner of the band down to its middle edge.
Steps 22–24

Fold the upper right corner
Fold the upper right corner down the same way.

Raise the triangle
Unfold the large triangle back up along its middle hinge.

Open the crown
Put a finger into the middle and push the floor down while the band stands up into four walls. Let the side pleats open flat and lift the four points.

Turn the crown so its four points face up and wear it, or use it as a lid.
