An Origami Tutor Santa hat for young children: a red hat with a white brim and a floppy tip, folded flat from one square in four folds. A Christmas card decoration.
- You need
- One square of origami paper, red on one side and white on the other. No scissors or glue.
- Start
- Start white side up, with one corner pointing up. Red paper that is white on the back makes the hat and its white brim.
- Tips
- Line both edges up exactly in the middle so the hat is even.
- Glue the hat onto a drawn face to make a Santa card.
Your model is ready
Press the folds flat. Draw a round white pompom at the end of the tip, or glue on a cotton ball. The finished Santa hat, with its white brim and floppy tip.
Step-by-step diagrams
- 1
Fold the left side in
Fold the top left edge over so it lies along the middle of the paper. Its red back is half of the hat.

Fold the top right edge over to meet it in the middle. The red hat stands on a white corner.
- 3
Make the brim
Fold the white bottom point behind, leaving a white band under the red hat as its brim.
- 4
Flop the tip over
Fold the top point over and down to the right, so the end of the hat hangs over its side.
- ✓
Finish
Press the folds flat. Draw a round white pompom at the end of the tip, or glue on a cotton ball. The finished Santa hat, with its white brim and floppy tip.
