How to make a paper hat (newspaper)

The folded paper hat from a sheet of newspaper: a peak, a brim, and it fits a child's head from a full newspaper page.
- You need
- One sheet of newspaper or letter paper. No glue or scissors.
- Start
- Lay the sheet in front of you, short edge at the top. A full newspaper page makes a hat to wear.
- Tips
- A full newspaper page makes a hat for a child; a letter sheet makes a hat for a doll or a toy.
- Fold the brim up twice for a stronger edge.

Steps 1–5

Fold in half
Fold the top edge down to the bottom edge.

Crease the middle
Fold in half from left to right, crease, and open it again.

Fold the left corner down
Fold the top left corner down to the center crease, so the top edge lies along it.

Fold the right corner down
Fold the top right corner down to meet it.

Fold the front brim in half
Fold the bottom edge of the front layer up to the bottom of the triangle.
Steps 6–10

Fold the front brim up
Fold the folded strip up again, over the triangle.

Wrap the left brim corner
Fold the end of the front brim that sticks out past the hat's left side round the side to the back.

Wrap the right brim corner
Fold the end of the front brim that sticks out past the hat's right side round the side to the back.

Turn over
Turn the hat over.

Fold the back brim in half
Fold the bottom edge of the back layer up to the bottom of the triangle.
Steps 11–14

Fold the back brim up
Fold the folded strip up again, over the triangle.

Wrap the left brim corner
Fold the end of the back brim that sticks out past the hat's left side round the side to the back.

Wrap the right brim corner
Fold the end of the back brim that sticks out past the hat's right side round the side to the back.

Open the hat
Slip your hands inside the hat from the bottom and spread the front and back apart. The middle crease folds outward on both sides and the hat's sides come in, making a pointed crown to wear.
