Weights to look for
Mondi’s Smooth White Strong range is 70–120 gsm. Thin specialist origami kraft can be lighter, while bag and packaging grades can be heavier.
Folding, creasing, cutting and gluing
- Fold
- Thin kraft is useful for practice folds; a heavy bag sheet adds too much bulk to small points.
- Crease
- Make a firm crease along the grain when possible. Score heavier wrapping stock before making a box edge.
- Cut
- Cuts well for wrappers and broad shapes. Flatten roll curl before measuring a net.
- Glue
- Plain uncoated kraft accepts a small amount of PVA or glue stick. Put adhesive on the plain side if a coating is present.
What to make
Use a suitable thin sheet for the airplane or a heavier sheet for a rustic box. Measure a reused bag after opening its seams.
Common sheet and pack sizes
Packaging rolls include 18, 24, 36 and 48 inch widths. Specialist folding suppliers also cut kraft into large squares; choose the grade before comparing formats.
