A small two-sided heart folded from one dollar bill, with no cuts and no glue. Fold the bill into a square, turn it onto a corner and shape the heart.
- You need
- One dollar bill (156 × 66 mm), or any rectangle of that size. No glue or scissors.
- Start
- Lay a new, flat bill in front of you with its long edges at the top and bottom. Any 156 × 66 mm rectangle of paper works the same way.
- Tips
- Use a flat, crisp bill: old soft bills fold less cleanly.
- Press every crease before the next fold so the heart stays symmetrical.
Your model is ready
Press the edges flat. Your bill heart is ready to give with a note or a gift card. The finished dollar heart, with its two rounded lobes at the top.
Step-by-step diagrams
Steps 1–6
- 1
Fold the bill in half
Fold the left half over the right half so the short edges meet. Press the crease.
- 2
Fold the spare strip behind
The folded bill is wider than it is tall. Fold the extra strip at the right edge behind, along a line as far from the left edge as the bill is tall, so the packet becomes a square.
- 3
Turn the square onto a corner
Turn the square a quarter of the way round so one corner points up.
- 4
Find the middle
Bring the right corner to the left corner. Press a vertical crease, then unfold.
- 5
Fold the top point
Bring the top point down to the middle of the square.
- 6
Fold the bottom point
Bring the bottom point up to the middle of the top folded edge.
Steps 7–11
- 7
Lift the left side
Fold the lower left edge up so it lies along the vertical center crease.
- 8
Lift the right side
Fold the lower right edge up to meet the center crease as well.
- 9
Soften the left edge
Fold the far left corner behind the model.
- 10
Soften the right edge
Fold the far right corner behind the model.
- 11
Round the two peaks
Fold the tips of both top points behind the heart.
