An Origami Tutor way to fold a note the way notes are passed in class: a letter sheet folds into a long strip, both ends become points, and the bottom flap folds over the top point to close a small 2 × 4 in packet.
- You need
- One sheet of letter or notebook paper. No glue or scissors.
- Start
- Write your note first, on the side facing up. Lay the sheet short edge at the top. Notebook or printer paper both work; colored paper shows its color outside the folded note if the color faces down.
- Tips
- Press each lengthwise fold hard: the strip is four layers thick.
- Write the name of the person the note is for on the outside flap.
Your model is ready
Your note is folded. To read it, lift the bottom flap, pull the point free and unfold the strip. The folded note, with the bottom flap over the top point.
Step-by-step diagrams
- 1
Fold in half lengthwise
Fold the right edge over to the left edge. Your writing is now inside.
- 2
Fold in half again
Fold the right folded edge over to the left edges, making a long narrow strip.
- 3
Point the top end
Fold the top left corner down so the top edge lies along the right side of the strip. The top end is now a point.
- 4
Point the bottom end
Fold the bottom right corner up so the bottom edge lies along the left side. The bottom end is a point too.
- 5
Fold the top end down
Fold the top end down across the strip, about a third of the strip's length from the top.
- 6
Fold the bottom end up over the point
Fold the bottom end up the same way, over the top point. Press it flat: the bottom flap holds the point down.
- ✓
Finish
Your note is folded. To read it, lift the bottom flap, pull the point free and unfold the strip. The folded note, with the bottom flap over the top point.
