EasyAn Origami Tutor design7 stepsTwo 6 × 6 in squares · 2 paper pieces

An Origami Tutor carrot in two pieces: an orange root with a flat top and a long point, and a green top with three leaves. Both fold from plain squares with simple valley folds, and a dab of glue joins them.

You need
Two squares of origami paper, one orange and one green, a little glue and a pen.
Start
Use an orange square and a green square of the same size. Start both white side up, with a corner pointing up.
Tips
  • Fold both lower edges to the same middle line so the point is straight.
  • A longer top fold gives a shorter, stouter carrot.

Step-by-step diagrams

Valley fold Mountain fold Color side White side
  1. 1

Fold the lower left edge in

Fold the lower left edge to the middle line, so the bottom becomes a long point.

  2. 2

Fold the lower right edge in

Fold the lower right edge to the middle line to match. The carrot's long point is made.

  3. 3

    Fold the top point down

Fold the top point down across the widest part of the carrot's top. The carrot has a flat top.

  4. 4

Fold the green square in half

Take the green square. Fold the top corner down to the bottom corner to make a triangle with its point at the bottom.

  5. 5

    Raise the left leaf

Fold the left corner up along a line from the bottom point, so the corner sticks up above the top edge and leans out a little.

  6. 6

    Raise the right leaf

Fold the right corner up the same way. The two leaves stand beside the middle point.

  7. 7

Tuck the greens behind the carrot

Slide the bottom point of the green triangle behind the carrot's flat top, so the leaves stand up above it.
