An Origami Tutor flat Easter egg from one square: the points and corners of a diamond fold behind it to round it into an egg, ready to decorate with stripes, dots and zigzags.
- You need
- One square of origami paper, plain or pastel, and pens for decorating. No glue or scissors.
- Start
- Start colored side up, with one corner pointing up. Pastel paper makes a ready-made Easter egg; plain white paper can be colored afterwards.
- Tips
- Fold both sides the same distance so the egg is even.
- Draw on the egg after folding, so the lines stay straight.
Your model is ready
Press the folds flat. Draw stripes, dots or zigzags on the front, or glue the egg on a card.
Step-by-step diagrams
- 1
Fold the left point behind
Fold the left point back along a straight line, about a sixth of the way in from the left corner. The egg's left side is now straight.
- 2
Fold the right point behind
Fold the right point back the same distance. Both sides are straight and the same width apart.
- 3
Fold the bottom point behind
Fold the bottom point back along a level line about an eighth of the way up. The egg has a flat bottom.
- 4
Fold the top point behind
Fold the top point back along a level line just below it, so the top is blunt, not pointed.
- 5
Round the upper left corner
Fold the upper left corner back across a short slanted line that cuts it off, so the outline is rounder.
- 6
Round the upper right corner
Fold the upper right corner back across a short slanted line that cuts it off, so the outline is rounder.
- 7
Round the lower left corner
Fold the lower left corner back across a short slanted line that cuts it off, so the outline is rounder.
- 8
Round the lower right corner
Fold the lower right corner back across a short slanted line that cuts it off, so the outline is rounder.
- ✓
Finish
Press the folds flat. Draw stripes, dots or zigzags on the front, or glue the egg on a card.
